Old Yeller - I Learned from You (50th Anniversary!)
Description: First released on Christmas Day, 1957, this is Old Yeller's 50th movie anniversary (the book was first published in 1956). Old Yeller was played in the film by a dog named Spike, a Mastiff/yellow Labrador mix, who was rescued from the Van Nuys animal shelter in California by Frank Weatherwax, trainer of Lassie. His adoption fee: three dollars. Song - I Learned from You, by Miley Cyrus, from the Bridge to Terabithia soundtrack. The films are Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows, Little Heroes, The Dog Who Stopped the War, Fluke, Antarctica (the film that inspired Eight Below), and Eight Below. Note about Antarctica/Eight Below: In real life, and in the original film Antarctica, 16 dogs were left alone on Antarctica. By the time humans returned for them only 2 were alive.
