Disney '42 - Four Methods of Flush Riveting
Description: This short was produced by the Disney Studios for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, distributed by National Film Board of Canada. This is very important historically as being Walt Disney's "pilot" effort to show how effective animation could be used in training films. This cartoon shows how to rivet an airplane so that the rivets are flat to the surface to avoid turbulence caused by raised areas on the aircraft's skin.

Description: This film, made for Canada, begins with an interesting cartoon showing Hitler (depicted as a ranting madman speaking in phony German) and an armada of tanks trying to invade a peaceful-looking village, only to be fought off by a barrage of gunfire from anti-tank guns, so much so that it sends Hitler to Hell. The rest of this short is a dry and technical explanation and description of the Boys Anti-Tank Rifle. Just like the previous short, animation is limited.

Disney '42 - Out of the Frying Pan Into the Fire
Description: Minnie is about to pour her bacon grease over Pluto's dinner bowl as a treat, but a radio announcement reminds them that the glycerine which can be extracted from cooking fats is important to production of war munitions. Pluto decides that he would rather his treat be used to help Mickey and the other troops at the front, and he helps to collect grease to deliver to the local collection station - getting a better treat as compensation after all. The only film in which Mickey Mouse is shown in uniform, he is seen in a photo on the wall as a soldier.
