Spring 1961 - Vacationland Matterhorn
I took this picture from a magazine page my wife’s grandma saved from 1961. The back, which I will post shortly, had a recipie to create a Mark Twain riverboat cake.

This is my favorite video on Disneyland. It’s long, but I enjoy every minute of it.
In July 1956, the five-member Barstow family of Wethersfield, Connecticut, won a free trip to newly-opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California, in a nationwide contest. This 30-minute amateur documentary film tells the fabulous story of their fun-filled, dream-come-true, family travel adventure, filmed on the scene at Walt Disney’s “Magic Kingdom” by Robbins Barstow.

From freedogshampoo:
This special aired on September 11th 1957.
Walt Disney had always wanted to make a film based on the Oz stories. In 1954, when the movie rights to various Oz books became available, Walt purchased them. Soon, scripts were written for a movie in “Widescreen, color, the works..” But for some reason it was never made. Pretty incredible how much they hyped it.

Mousetimes.com has a new pictorial of Walt Disney World taken April 15th, 2006. There are 26 pictures from around the park. I especially enjoyed the pictures that showcased the Flower & Festival Garden - notice the flowers in the screenshot at the base of the Monorail.
Mousetimes.com has 42 pictorials from Disneyland and Disney World and one pictorial that is devoted to just Disneyland wallpapers.

These vintage photos/scans of a 1940 Popular Science Magazine describe some of the technology used at the time to help produce the movie Pinocchio. The photos included in the article are a must see.

I just received my first Disneyland ticket. Disneyland, from when it opened to around 1971 used to charge to ride each ride. In order to make it easier for guest to ride attractions, Disney sold Tickets. These usually took the form of A, B, C, D and E. E Tickets were for the most popular and largest attractions and A Tickets were for things like the main street trolly. Tickets could be saved and used at subsequent visits. The ticket I bought off of ebay was a Magic Key Coupon. This type of ticket allowed guest on any ride, A, B, C, D or E. Only Magic Kingdom Club Members could by Magic Key Coupons. You can find more information on tickets at yesterland.com on The A-B-C’s of Tickets, More About Tickets and Ticket Books.
