Number Two Man Made Island is Tokyo Disneyland

At least according to intlistings.com:

"The island resort contains five hotels within walking distance from seven themed areas within the park. If you don’t have children in tow when you visit Japan and you want to visit a man-made island.."

Mickey as a Power Pole

I just found out that there are power poles in the Orlando area shaped like Mickey heads. I did a quick google search and came up with this.

Magic Kingdom Magical Quilt

This is the type of content that I started this blog to post. The amount of time and effort that Kennedy put into this quilt can easily be seen but I’m sure the pictures don’t do justice to seeing it in person.

Artists Re-Work Mickey Mouse

I don’t think all of you will like some of these photos, but some of them are very good. These artists took some liberty with the image and likenesses of Mickey Mouse. Appreciate it as art.

Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer’s Island

Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island
The OC Register has an awesome graphic of the new Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer’s Island. I love that when news leaked that Disney would change Tom Sawyer’s Island to a Pirates of the Caribbean theme, there was a huge backlash from the traditionalists. This cause Disney to back down on the change. But yet they rolled it out anyway, just keeping the Tom Sawyer’s Island name. I bet this is going to drive a ton more foot traffic to the island.

Disney Castles From Around the World

Dr. Stephen Clarke-Willson has a great page showing pictures he has personally taken of each Disney Castle from Disneyland, Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. He visited all the parks in one year. Unfortunately, Disneyland Hong Kong wasn’t open yet so no photo there. Anyway, check it out.

Ward Kimball Drawing of the V&T

Ward Kimball, famed Disney animator and close friend to Walt Disney, shared Walt’s passion for railroads. Apparently, Mr. Kimball like to visit Virginia City in Nevada to ride the V&T Railroad. He took the time to even draw a nice map of it. Check it out here.

Storybook Land Canal Boats – 1958

img029, originally uploaded by Shifting Leaves.

Here is a shot – not sure where it is taken from – that shows Cinderella’s castle in Storybook Land. If I had to guess, I would say it’s from Casey Jr.

1958 Vintage Disneyland Photo: Fantasyland

1958 Disneyland Fantasyland
This shot is facing the opposite direction from most shots of Fantasyland that I see. Over head, you can see the Skyway.

1958 Photo: Raft to Tom Sawyer Island

Disneyland Raft to Tom Sawyer Island
I wish this picture was a little more clear. It shows a rather large group of people either loading or unloading from Tom Sawyer Island. The shot of the mill is nice and I love the outfits.
