DLRP Today has a bunch of images from Frontierland in Disneyland Paris. Disneyland Paris is celebrating it's 15th year anniversary and with the party comes a new coat of paint. Apparently it was badly needed.

Family Travel: Thrills and spills in Disneyland Resort Paris

Disneyland Paris Crush Roller Coaster

As part of their 15th anniversary celebrations, the resort has been working overtime to get two brand new rides, Crush’s Coaster and the Cars Race Rally, completed. Now all they needed was some willing volunteers to come and see what all their hard work had achieved.

Disneyland Paris Trip Report

Andy, over at the Mousekingdom Blog, has started chronicling his 5 day trip with a report of day 1. Reading his post definitely invoked some jealousy. Day one sounded like it was fun, but we’ll have to stay tuned for the other 4 days.

Cars Race Rally Attraction in Disneyland Paris

Cars Race Rally
This one caught me by surprise. I was completely unaware that construction had already because on a new attraction in Disneyland Paris themed around Cars. The ride is most comparable to Francis’ Lady Bug Boogie in California Adventure except twice as fast and have twice as many cars. None of the popular characters from Cars are reported to be actual ride vehicles but will make appearances on the side of the attraction to cheer on would be racers. This is to prevent guest from fighting over which ride vehicle they want to ride in.

The new ride has also be added to the 2007 version of the Disneyland Paris park map.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Rock n Roller Coaster Video

An RCT3 recreation of the Rock n Roller Coaster at the Walt Disney Studios park in Paris.

Roller Coaster Tycoon is a computer game that lets you build and manage your own amusement park. Part of the game is building roller coasters that will attract people to the park. Someone went through the trouble of recreating the Rock N Roller Coaster Ride from Disneyland Paris in the game

Disneyland Paris Park Map

Images DlpmapI went in search of a good Disneyland Paris park map to get a lay of the land. The one on the official site is not very easy to make out any detail. The best one I found was on mickey-mouse.com. I would love to find one with even more detail. I want to see the exact route of Big Thunder Mountain and more detail of Adventureland.

1992 Commemorative EuroDisney Pass

1992 EuroDisney Commemorative Ticket

My friend, David, told me he had an opening day commemorative ticket from EuroDisney. I told him to scan it in and I would add it here. He did and here it is.

EuroDisney opened on April 12th, 1992. The expected crowd was 500,000 but only about 50,000 passed through the gates. This lack of interest, only 3 out of 10 visitors were French, continued for the rest of 1992 causing Disney stock to plummet. Many started to question the strategy of EuroDisney.

The park hemorrhaged money year over year. By early-1994, Michael Eisner was publicly quoted as saying that they would shut the park down by the end of March. This was in part to put pressure on the European banks to restructure the debt so it was more manageable to Disney to continue investing in the park. The banks agreed and with some outside investment, things started to look up.

In October of 1994, the park was officially renamed Disneyland Paris. Things starting aligning and the losses started to lessen. By March 1995, Disney Execs were predicting the park would break even by the end of 1995. From this point, aggressive expansion and improvements continued to drive visitors and profits.

Today, the park is profitable and continues to be developed. There are no worries and the strategy in hindsight now makes perfect sense. I think we are starting to see some similar questions regarding Hong Kong Disneyland but as with EuroDisney, I think these are just opening pains that will go away with time.

Disney Castles from around the Parks

There are a total of 5 Disney castles located at the Disney parks; Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland. This posts shows a picture of each and gives the name. When I started this, I was under the impression that they were each named after a Disney Princess but instead I found they are all named after either Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty.

Disney Park Maps

I create a new page that links to each Disney Map from each Disney Park at each Disney Resort. I hope you find these as useful as I do. It will become the third regular link on the right along with the Disney Links page and the Recommend Stuff page.

I found it interesting that each Disney Destination site was different in design and in functionality. If you cruise some of these maps, you will find that very few resorts present them in the same fashion. In fact, the best maps I could find of the Disneyland Resort in California were actually PDFs. Besides for these three maps, all the rest link to pages on the particular resort’s site.

I can’t tell where the show is - is there a restaurant called Buffalo Bills? It does look like fun though. Here are links to some of the music you will hear during the show:
