One of my all time favorite Disney Movies is the 1973 animated film, Robin Hood (IMDB Link). I’ve always loved the different animals they portrayed as different characters. It was the definition of a kid’s movie.
I was stoked when a relative gave me an original 1973 copy of a Disneyland Record, Robin Hood: Story and Songs. The vinyl jacket has fabulous pictures from the movie that I just have to share.
Unfortunately, I don’t own a record player so I can’t comment on the content of the record. The songs listed are:
- Whistle Stop (Roger Miller)
- OO-DE-LALLY (Roger Miller)
- Love (Floyd Huddleston & George Burns)
- The Phony King of England (Johnny Mercer)
- Not in Nottingham (Roger Miller)
As the back cover says (view after the break), the music was conducted by George Burns. Narration and Dialogue Directed by Pete Renoudet with the assistance of John Wood and Rose Mussi.
To see the back cover and actual vinyl, make sure you read the full post by clicking on “Continue Reading”.

Geoff took a lot of time in research and production to produce a 266MB MP3 file for his brother - a fellow Disneyland nut. The audio track contains audio from old attractions, ambient music and historical recordings. I haven’t listen to it yet, but it’s next on my playlist. If you’re interested, head over to http://www.stargaze.org/disney/ and download it today.

Readers of Boing Boing will have already seen this, but a group called, “DaVinci’s Notebook,” which is no longer together, recorded this funny gospel song about Disneyland. The link to the MP3 is found on this “Fun Disney Stuff” page and be accessed here. If you’re curious about the lyrics, read them here.

Michael Geoghegan is at it again with the latest version of the Official Disneyland Podcast:
Music from Red Hot Chili Peppers has been added to two Disneyland?ǬÆ Resort roller coasters, and you have a backstage pass courtesy of the Official Disneyland?ǬÆ Resort Audio Podcast. Host Michael Geoghegan provides an in-depth look behind the scenes of “Rockin’ Both Parks’ - the mixing of the Red Hot Chili Peppers into both Space Mountain in Disneyland?ǬÆ and California Screamin’ at Disney’s California Adventure?ǬÆ.
The podcast considers this innovative approach to the popular attractions from every angle, taking you into unseen corners of Disneyland?ǬÆ Resort, as well as to the studio in Los Angeles where the soundtracks were mixed. You’ll also get insight into the variety of technologies that went into the project, including (in the case of Space Mountain) “out of this world” new lighting and video projections inside the attraction The podcast can be heard online or downloaded to your iPod or MP3 portable device.
Running Time: 31 mins. 56 secs.
The video hasn’t been updated yet but if the last few episodes are any indication, it will be in the next day or so.

Jean Shepherd takes us on a humorous audio tour (MP3) of a few of the exhibits at the 1964 World’s Fair. At about 14 minutes into the MP3, Mr. Shepherd rides “It’s a Small World.” Although he is pretty critical of many of the attractions and atmosphere of the fair, he seems really enthralled with It’s a Small World.
It’s interesting to note that in 1975, Jean Shepherd narrated the voice of the audio-animatronics “Father” in the updated Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom.

JustDisney.com has a page featuring Tomorrowland Sounds. I found this page by searching for the People Mover soundtrack. They also have the theme music and a small narration clip.
I just barely remember riding the People Mover. I think the last time, I was in the pre-teen years and I didn’t really understand the possible sentimental value of such a ride. I would love to get one last ride.

Jeff, from the Meandering Mouse podcast, has the audio from the Monster, Inc. Laugh Floor attraction in episode #44. Disney Imagineers recently announced they will delay the opening of this attraction because they are still tweaking it (making it funnier).

Sorcerer’s Workshop has audio files of Walt Disney describing each land. They don’t say where they came from but they are vintage!

RealDisney.com has posted an MP3 he created off a 1974 Mickey’s Christmas Carol LP. You can hear the subtle pops that only a record will produce but the audio quality is awesome. Hurry though, he promises to only keep it up for a limited time.

It’s been a few months, but there is a new episode of the Official Disneyland Podcast. The video on the podcast page still reflects the last episode…the Halloween one. I hope they have a new video version coming, it’s nice to get a audio podcast and video podcast at the same time. Here is the description of this episode from the Official Disneyland Podcast Page:
CLICK HERE to download the newest episode of the Official Disneyland® Resort Audio Podcast to your iPod, MP3 portable device or desktop and take the magic of “The Happiest Place on Earth” with you wherever you go!
It’s a double celebration - of the holidays and The Year of a Million Dreams - for the December Disneyland® Resort Podcast.
First, Podcast host Michael Geoghegan takes you behind the scenes for the “sensory overload” to be found when both ‘it’s a small world’ and “Haunted Mansion” undergo the holiday transformations which have become a Disneyland® seasonal tradition.
Then it’s over to the Disneyland® Hotell for a work-in-progress survey of the Mickey Mouse Penthouse. A night in the newly completed Penthouse is one of the extra special, money-can’t-buy surprises offered to randomly selected guests during The Year of a Million Dreams at Disneyland® Resort.
Running Time: 32 mins. 19 secs.
As always, if you like what you hear in the Official Disneyland® Resort Audio Podcast, please tell your friends or leave a comment at the Official Disneyland® Resort Audio Podcast homepage on the iTunes Directory.

This is an MP3 of the Disneyland Monorail audio track. It’s 10 MB so it may take a few to download. There is some slightly interesting chatter going on between the pilot and what I assume are the other pilots. I wish I knew who to credit for the recording but I found this on a peer to peer file trading site and have no idea who recorded it. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
