The Retroist has ranked the top 12 Disney afternoon cartoons. I’d have to say that my favorites were DuckTales followed closely by TailSpin.

Shooting the video with a little more quick pans and jerkyness would had made it look even more vintage. It seems like most old 8mm videos make you motion sick.

I think it’s awesome that Disney would create and release a video of this. Using the top of the Matterhorn as a scenic photo opp, Disney took pictures of the Finding Nemo Sumarine Voyage construction and pieced it together into a time lapse video. I love seeing the Monorail flash in and out of frames. You have to check it out.

One of my all time favorite Disney Movies is the 1973 animated film, Robin Hood (IMDB Link). I’ve always loved the different animals they portrayed as different characters. It was the definition of a kid’s movie.
I was stoked when a relative gave me an original 1973 copy of a Disneyland Record, Robin Hood: Story and Songs. The vinyl jacket has fabulous pictures from the movie that I just have to share.
Unfortunately, I don’t own a record player so I can’t comment on the content of the record. The songs listed are:
As the back cover says (view after the break), the music was conducted by George Burns. Narration and Dialogue Directed by Pete Renoudet with the assistance of John Wood and Rose Mussi.
To see the back cover and actual vinyl, make sure you read the full post by clicking on “Continue Reading”.

Jason Wood, you just won a game for the Marlins with your first pinch home run in the major leagues. What are you going to do now?Get up early this morning and drive to Disney World, believe it or not.
“My wife and I have been before, but our three girls never have,” Wood said Wednesday afternoon after his three-run homer propelled the Marlins to a 5-4 win over the White Sox. “Pretty good timing, huh?”
The combination of a Marlins off day and Daniela Wood’s fourth birthday on Father’s Day sparked the idea. Her father’s unlikely heroics should make everything from the drive to the lines seem shorter.

Austin wrote in to ask:
Do you happen to have a video or sound file of the short-lived streetshow at California Adventure called “Chance to Shine?”
The only place I know to get this video is on the DVD A Look Back at DCA Entertainment. I don’t own and haven’t seen this DVD. Does anyone have a review of it they’d like to share?

Universal is opening a Harry Potter themed amusement park called “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” in Florida, in 2009. I can see this drawing crowds and attention, but the problem I forsee is it’s built around one story. There won’t be ways to change or evolve the park over time, unless more books are released.
One of the best parts of the Disney resorts is that they are constantly fueled by new stories, new movies and new characters. More generic parks, like a six flags for example, can create their own stories or borrow from those outside the park. A Harry Potter themed park will be contrained to the actual story.
Here are some links to stories about the park:
