Huey, Dewey, and Louie

Disney Insider had an interesting bit of trivia to pass on today. Apparently there is a classic cartoon entitled “Donald’s Nephews” where we get to meet the sister of Donald Duck, the mother of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Her name…Dumbella.

    If you check out the Wikipedia article on the Duck family, it seems “Dumbella” was actually her nickname—her real name was Della Thelma Duck.

    Yup, Donald’s Nephews was the first animated appearance of Huey, Dewey and Louie… but they appeared in the newspaper strip roughly six months before the cartoon was released. I kid you not!
