A man in Fort Worth, Texas started a musical in 2004 title, “High School Musical.” He has plenty of proof that it was his idea. There are very few differences between the two and a ton of similarities. Disney even tried to negotiate with him in February 2006 for the domain name Highschoolmusical.com. Check out the story and video and decide for yourself.

Disney claims it was a coincidence. The name and plot isn’t all that original, so I could see how this is a possibility. But I would also assume that they do research on these things before spending the time and money to create and market.
