Disneyland Snow

Kkrock Figure6-2After watching the Disneylandtour.com video again, I realized that Disneyland is going to make snow along the parade route and on the edges of the Rivers of America. This was news to me and sounded very interesting. A quick Google search turned up this article on Mouse Planet describing exactly how the snow effect is done.

The article is not dated so I’m not sure if the effects are handled in the same way now but here is a top level synopsis. The falling snow is actually tiny bubbles. The bubbles are “dry” bubbles that leave no residue and therefore don’t create a slippery surface or nasty film. Air is quickly pumped through these bubble machines creating the snow and blowing it out away from the machines.

As my readers know, I am going to be in Disneyland in mid-December. Hopefully I can catch this on video for you. In the meantime, here is one I found on Google Videos.
