America The Beautiful - 1974 Circle-Vision Exit Lobby

The Sorcerer’s Workshop has a great page dedicated to the 1974 Circle-Vision Exit Lobby Character Phones. As you exited the America the Beautiful show, the lobby had tons of phones that you could pick up and call different characters to talk with them.

[...] This picture was take from the People Mover as they passed Circle Vision heading down the main walk of Tomorrowland. If you look closely at the doors you can see what I believe are the phone booths described here. Does anyone know what show they were playing in 1975? I think it was America the Beautiful but that doesn’t seem to match this mural. Filed under: Disneyland, Photos — Josh Kenzer @ 7:18 am - November 3, 2006 [...]

The large phone booths visible from the outside in the photo are indeed the “Chatter Box” hands-free speaker phone booths. As I mention on my “great page” (Thanks, Disney Frontier!), your entire family could pile into one of these speaker phone booths to call the folks back home and say, “Hi, we’re calling from Disneyland!”
The Character Phones were near the doorway on the left side of the lobby, as seen in the photo.
